Our Process
First, we listen, then we guide you through your options and help you to decide on the design that will best reflect the personality and the life of the person who has passed on.
We can help you choose the right photographs and artwork, and we can advise you around the inscriptions you want to add.
Once we understand what you want, our graphic artist will create an image to ensure we have properly captured your ideas. Then we pass the rendering to our professional stonemasons to start creating your monument – this stage will take about 6-8 weeks.
Over this time period, the photographic, artistic and written portions will be finalised. These features can be added immediately upon completion so we can ship your monument out to our local Canterbury installation expert without delay.
Custom Made Headstones Designed & Installed

Because we design and create alongside you, we can support your unique vision and help you capture the life and personality of your loved one. We always approach this significant task with compassion and patience, and our experience will ensure you will feel heard every step of the way.

Local Installation
Whether you are in Christchurch or anywhere else across the Canterbury region, our local installation expert will have all the information required to ensure the monument is placed at the burial site before your unveiling date.
If you need to add further names to your memorial headstone or other monument later on, you can call our Canterbury installer directly.
Honouring Your Loved One
At Sanctuary Memorials, we respect your traditions and cultural requirements. When laying your loved one to rest, we work with your council, family and caretakers to ensure all boundaries, regulations and requirements are considered.
While it may not always be possible, we also make every effort to add further inscriptions to your monument without moving it from the Urupā or Cemetery.
